The killing in Darfur and withdrawing from Iraq - an Opinion

Our Government has been petitioned to redirect its efforts in Iraq to Darfur. The US government is not responsible for the things going on in Darfur... nor are the Chinese directly. However, the pathway to correcting the problem in Darfur runs thru China. The Chinese government is investing heavily in Darfur for Oil rights I believe, and we would have to make a deal with the devil to get them to back out. Human rights reasons do not induce them. The Chinese do not mind being thought to have a bad human rights record, or they would orchestrate a reprise to the 1989 Tiananmen protests, sans the executions. The Chinese are financing much of Iran's beligerance with Oil money, while Russia is deliberately offering Iran assistance in its nuclear ambitions. As such, getting China to invest in Iraq is a good first move. However, politics tend to follow money, and we don't want Iraq subject to Communist pressures while we are trying to install a fledgling democracy. Instead of attacking Iran, we need to publish all we can find out about their mistreatment of their Iraqi neighbors, and Pakistan too. A public outcry against Iran would give America a public resolve that the government need not gratify, as it withdraws from Iraq in step with Iranian de-escalation. Iraq doesn't have nuclear power... who is interested in proliferating Nuclear arms to Iran? Pakistan also borders Iran, and has Nuclear arms, but does not aim them at Iran... it looks to Kashmir and India. They have the scientist who is responsible for nuclear proliferation under house arrest, without having brought him to trial. The Middle East being the place it is, Iran could as easily be responsible for Bhutto's assassination as Musharif. Anything that runs up the price and extends the timeline of Iranian nuclear arms (the IAEA can regulate their production of electricity at any time,) give diplomacy more time to work.
