My take on Boston recruitment practices 01_07_08

Boston still sends out "Missionaries" to Churches of Christ, and you should not neglect to be vocal about the fact that Crossroads/Boston introduces a Hierarchy where C of C accepts no Hierarchy. Let it drop in conversation that Crossroads is a parasite on the Lord's body. Let it drop in conversation that you think "accountability partners" are nothing but a Catholic confessional in disguise. Let THEM work for a change. Their strategy has been to send one or two to "spy out the congregation," mentioning Caleb and Joshua as bible heros. They neglect to observe that Caleb was as strong at the age of 85 both for going out and for coming in, and for GOING TO WAR as he was at the age of 40! If the report is favorable, they send a group to work together. The group sets up peer pressure by greeting their own first or only (violation of Mt 5:47) and will entrap people one by one, by giving them a sin to confess; whether it be tempting one with fornication, adultery or pornography. They then inform the group, and let the others put pressure on that Christian to confess. After that, it's the vows, the accountability partners etc. They are real big on "an oath/vow is to men an end of all strife." Also, let it be known that confessing is to be "cleansed of all unrighteousness." Ask why Crossroaders (if there are any) feel free to break their own marriage vows, but not vows of secrecy, or that they will not speak against one another at any time. Right now, I want to know if Crossroads has any Apologist or Atheist basher that will stand against Atheism. They like preying on us, but they want to hide behind others, not stand up on behalf of others. They further use the name of Barnabas as an odd choice of a bible heros. They know that Christians will identify with Paul, and not Barnabas, and use the old discord as an excuse to drive true Christians who disagree with them away. I fear that in the end they will try to wrest away the very name, and tell remaining members of The Church of Christ to "go out from among them and be separate." I want to see a different name on the front of that building in Florida. My suggestion would be "The Church of the Understanding of the Enlightened." They could take that bible name easily form Eph 1:18. The Non-Institutional Church has not suffered in this way... Crossroads and Boston represent institutions. The only concern they may have is that a Crossroader may come and attach himself to them for a time to get a witness that he is not one of them, then use their recommendation elsewhere. *****NOTE***** They and Them should be evident, but it is intended to be Boston/Crossroad movement adherents. I document my thoughts unvarnished above. The name I was worried about appears to have become ICoC, ICOC or ICC - International Churches of Christ.
