Border Fence letter - (I was rude) 06_07_06
Dear Mrs Clinton: Clearly private companies stand to make a mint if your virtual border control plan is implemented. Do you honestly believe that you can control the border without virtual cops to virtually arrest these virtual illegals? We need enforcement officials on the ground, not an army of repairmen to maintain and by all means upgrade a border studded with censors. Yours Sincerely, Rob Johnson *****NOTE****** written to Senator Clinton's New York Office as dated in title - I was virtually heedless of consequence. In retrospect I SHOULD HAVE CONSTRUCTIVELY SUGGESTED FINING BUSINESSES THAT EMPLOY ILLEGAL LABOR, making it the cost of doing business if you employ non-residents. This would send aliens home by attrition, whether they rent, drive, and buy utilities or not. If the cost of illegal labor goes up (from below minimum wage,) then legal labor gets a comparative advantage in competition. You could argue that this just ships these jobs south of the border, but I don't think so. I have to admit it's somewhat inflationary though. The problem is intractable. Too much of America's workforce is behind bars.
