Datamining is a pioneer frontier.
Data Mining is a frontier of computing that is becoming more popular with Corporations. As such, it needs informed and insightful regulation. Data warehouses are the places that all the credit cards for identity theft come from. Data Mining makes us fear Orwellian consequences, and scares some people every bit as much as the prospect of regulation scares data miners. Gold mining is regulated. So is coal mining. If I had the background for it, I would try to suggest something useful about regulating it, not just advocate privacy for people in the databases.
